LEADERSHIP

ALAN FLATT

Founder and CEO

Alan is a business executive with decades of experience with some of the world’s largest financial institutions. In 2023, after years in leadership roles with both large and small companies, Alan became a co-founder of InvestTrek Capital which combines his passion for building businesses, skill for investing in people and projects, and a life long interest in sustainability. Alan has established himself as one of the most respected leaders in the US Padel industry

Prior to becoming an entrepreneur in 2020, Alan managed finance of over $3 billion of commercial real estate loans, developed growth strategies and managed accounts for a diverse range of clients. Over the course of 16 years as West Coast Manager for the Real Estate Structured Finance Group at Bank of America, he was responsible for originating fixed and floating rate, non-recourse commercial real estate loans. During a two-year stint as a Managing Director at Wells Fargo Real Estate Capital Markets Group, Alan originated fixed and floating rate debt for a wide range of financial institutional and middle market commercial real estate investors. More recently in entrepreneurial roles, he has successfully started businesses in hospitality and adventure travel, most notably Terra Vi. Most recently, Alan established the United States’ first VC company dedicated to the world’s fastest-growing sport, padel. With a lifelong passion for finance, nature, sustainability and innovation, Alan is excited to have launched InvestTrek Capital. Alan has an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Michigan. He currently lives in Orange County, California.
 

HANS HELMERS

Co-Founder and Partner

Hans is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of leadership and operating experience ranging from Fortune 500, to sponsor-backed middle market companies, to start-ups. His skills and expertise span consumer marketing, finance, strategy, and operations. Hans is a life-long racquet sports player with a deep background in tennis and a passion for padel and other racquet sports.

Hans brought a strategic mindset, a strong desire for continuous improvement, and an ability to execute to his 19 year career at Time Warner. Hans collaborated to bring continuous service to millions of customers and helped transform a content marketing agency from print to digital. Hans served as the Head of Marketing for a financial technology firm where he achieved tremendous customer growth enabling customers to earn dramatically higher yield on their cash. Hans’ business and operations expertise combined with his passion for sports and fitness make him a valuable player for InvestTrek. Hans is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he competed in Division I Tennis and earned a bachelor’s degree in Diplomatic History. He lives in a suburb of New York City.

• 2021 – 2023 – CEO, Northwest Farming Services – Leader of sponsor backed vertically integrated agriculture platforms in the Pacific Northwest and Southeastern United States. This included over 10,000 acres of orchards, large scale packing operations software enablement systems, and significant direct to consumer business

• 2018 – 2021 – President, Amsive – Responsible for Strategy, Digital Marketing, Consumer Intelligence, and Creative for sponsor backed performance marketing agency

• 2015 – 2017 – Head of Marketing, MaxMyInterest financial technology firm. Led B2C and B2B2C marketing efforts resulting in rapid customer growth

• 1996 – 2015 – General Manager, Time Inc. Content Solutions as well as Digital Strategy, Finance, and Consumer Marketing management roles

BRIAN CALVERT

Co-Founder

Brian serves InvestTrek Capital with a deep knowledge of corporate structure, finance and legal which he uses to help identify opportunities and guide strategy. He is a seasoned professional with over 30 years’ experience working at the top end of the financial and management consultant industries. Brian is an expert in strategic planning, operations, corporate finance, valuation, mergers and acquisitions, and complex financial structuring.

Starting in 2002, Brian served as a Senior Managing Director and Chairman of the Litigation and Expert Services practice at Development Specialists, Inc. (“DSI”). DSI is a management consulting firm with offices across the United States providing corporate finance, operational and financial restructuring, forensic accounting, litigation support, expert testimony, and third-party fiduciary services.

Prior to this engagement, Brian held management positions at LEK Consulting, General Binding Corporation, Trek Corporation and Arthur Anderson. Throughout his career, Brian has performed engagements in connection with acquisitions, divestitures, minority and controlling investments, joint ventures, settlement agreements, plan confirmation matters and determining the value impact of various strategic operating and financing decisions. He has performed analyses over a broad range of industries and markets and has provided expert testimony in solvency and valuation matters. He is proud to be a regular on the lecture circuit, speaking at several graduate schools of business in the areas of finance and creating shareholder value.

Brian has an undergraduate degree from Indiana University Bloomington, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He currently lives in Los Angeles.

MATT HOBERG

Managing Director

Matt leverages over 30 years of medical, corporate finance, deal-making, and strategy expertise at InvestTrek Capital. From 2008 to 2016 Matt served as CEO of a regional physician enterprise where he achieved significant growth in market share, revenue, and EBITDA culminating in a highly successful sale. More recently Matt was the VP of a sponsor-backed physician service company where he managed a large P&L, orchestrated seven acquisitions, and closed seven significant contracts. Matt brings a keen eye and wealth of strategic insights to the InvestTrek team.

Matthew Hoberg, MD has enjoyed a 30 year clinical and business career in anesthesia, including 18 years as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist before transitioning to full-time physician executive roles.

Dr. Hoberg has broad expertise in physician relationship and enterprise management. He has leveraged trust and credibility with physicians and other clinicians to create engagement and effective alignment models adapted to specific client needs. He has worked extensively with executive leadership at medium and large hospital and ambulatory systems and in senior executive roles for the largest national anesthesia management companies. As a national anesthesia sector leader, he brings an incisive understanding of industry trends and markets to effective strategy, planning and execution.

Matt’s ability to leverage clinical, operational, and business experience across a spectrum of clients creates strategic partnerships for long-term stakeholder value within a challenging and competitive environment. His passion for business has fostered a national reputation as a respected leader and trusted strategic partner.

JASON BELICE

General Council

Jason contributes extensive legal and fund management expertise to InvestTrek. He founded and currently leads Belice, Inc., a boutique law firm specializing in real estate, real estate finance, corporate law, venture capital, and wealth planning, further enhancing InvestTrek’s strategic initiatives and client success.

Jason has been a Corporate and Real Estate Attorney for 25 years and brings with him a wealth of experience in legal and fund management to InvestTrek. Throughout his career, he has prepared and closed over $10 billion in private placement Regulation D securities offerings. While contributing to the success of InvestTrek, Jason founded and currently serves as the Managing Partner of Belice, Inc., a boutique law firm located in La Jolla, California and Victor, Idaho specializing in real estate, real estate finance, corporate, venture capital and wealth planning matters.

Jason is also proud to represent and act as outside general counsel for a national real estate sponsor that has acquired over $5.7 billion of real estate assets, with over 23 million square feet under management, across approximately 1,200 properties and diversified across 47 states, as well as several other large real estate sponsors. Prior to founding Belice, Inc., Jason was a partner at Californian law firm Jackson Tidus, a partner and the Chair of the Corporate and Securities Group at Beverly Hills-based law firm Raines Feldman, LLP, and a partner at then San Diego’s largest law firm, Luce, Forward, Hamilton and Scripps LLP. He also worked for six years as a Senior Associate in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group at Baker & McKenzie, one of the largest law firms worldwide.

Jason graduated from the School of Hotel Management at Cornell University and was the Food and Beverage Manager at two 200+ room resort hotels where he was responsible for managing the bars, restaurants, and banquet operations and responsible for over 100 employees at the resorts prior to attending law school. Jason is committed to faith based, charitable and philanthropic endeavors. He and his wife Mishelle started a new ministry in La Jolla and Idaho called UpperRoom Coastal Ministries. Jason is the Vice-Chairman of the Salvation Army’s San Diego Metropolitan Advisory Board, a Member of its Executive Committee, and the Chair of its Property Committee.

Jason received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law (J.D., 1997) and his undergraduate degree in Finance from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY (B.S., 1991). He also spent a semester abroad at Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland.
